About Me

I am the Director of Critical Care and Co-Director of the JM Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital of Augusta, the largest and busiest burn center in the U.S. I also serve as a Professor of Medicine, Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Surgery, training fellows in burn and complex wound trauma care through Augusta University Medical Center.

With over 40 years of experience in critical care and infectious disease, I have led over 90 multicenter trials and published 150+ peer-reviewed articles. My specialties include burn care, complex wounds, sepsis, respiratory failure, and nutrition support. I have also testified as an expert witness in local, state, and federal courts, particularly in cases involving medical patents and complex care issues.

In addition to my clinical work, I have held roles such as Medical Director for Best Doctors/Teladoc and Physician Advisor for Doctor’s Hospital, with extensive experience in insurance-related clinical matters. My focus is on advancing patient care through research, education, and expert testimony.
